I’m a big believer in "digital-analogue-digital" workflows. For this Grime promo, I wanted to tap into the raw, DIY energy of early Channel U and old-school hip-hop visuals.

I shot the entire piece as a one-take on a vintage digital camcorder to capture that authentic 2000s grit. To push the aesthetic further, I printed the footage frame-by-frame and manually spent hours hand-animating over the frames: scratching the images, adding colour with markers and experimenting with collage—to get a stuttering, visceral texture that no digital plugin can replicate.

I then macro-scanned every individual frame back into the edit, to an immersive, tactile world that feels like a lost tape, proving that a low budget doesn't mean low impact—it just requires more soul.

It’s a 100% human-made tribute to the inventive, lo-fi music videos I grew up watching.

This sample video explores the intersection of raw Grime culture and tactile, hand-drawn animation. Using vintage Sony digital camcorder footage as the foundation, I wanted to bridge the gap between the digital era and physical craft.

By printing, hand-animating, and re-scanning frames at 24mp, I’ve pulled the energy of the artist off the screen and onto the page, creating a high-resolution texture that a digital filter just can't mimic.

Real Ink. Real Motion. No AI. Pushing the boundaries of mixed media storytelling. This isn’t a digital overlay—it’s a labor-intensive analogue process. I took raw vintage vibes from a Sony camcorder, printed them, and used hand-drawn animation to create custom VFX textures. The frames were then digitized with a 24mp scan to bridge the gap between lo-fi origins and modern motion graphics standards.

No AI. Just Ink, Paper, and 24 Million Pixels.
In a world of generative prompts, we’re going back to the source. This mixed media piece for a Grime artist started on a vintage Sony digital camcorder to capture that authentic early 2000s sensor grit. Every frame of this animation was physically printed, hand-drawn with real ink, and re-scanned at 24mp to preserve the soul of the paper.

Y2K Aesthetic x Analogue Intervention A study in mixed media textures. To achieve this look, I utilized:

Capture: Vintage Sony Digital Camcorder for 2000s-era sensor noise.

Animation: Hand-drawn frame-by-frame techniques on physical paper.

VFX: Analogue textures and ink bleeds spliced into the digital timeline.

Resolution: 24mp scans for hyper-detailed motion graphics. This is the "No AI" solution for artists who want a raw, authentic visual identity.

Pure Y2K Vibes | Sony Camcorder x Hand-Drawn FX Capturing the raw energy of the underground. This project leans into the Y2K aesthetic by using original vintage digital hardware. We bypassed the modern "clean" look for something with more character: digital tape noise, 4:3 ratios, and tactile frame-by-frame overlays.

Vintage Vibes meets High-Res Detail
There’s a specific magic in the "lo-fi to hi-fi" pipeline. By shooting on an old Sony camcorder and then re-digitizing the hand-animated frames at 24mp, we created a look that feels nostalgic but looks incredibly sharp on modern screens. It’s the perfect visual companion for the hard-hitting sound of Grime.

Mixed Media Motion: Analogue Grime Visuals Exploring the friction between digital capture and physical intervention. This sequence features a Grime artist shot on a legacy Sony digital camcorder, later enhanced through a heavy analogue workflow. By printing individual frames, I applied hand-drawn animation directly to the paper, creating a tactile VFX layer. Each frame was then re-captured via a 24mp digital scan, resulting in a high-fidelity motion graphics sequence that prioritizes organic texture over AI generation.

Raw Grime Visuals | Mixed Media Experiment

Pushing the boundaries of urban storytelling. This project explores the intersection of street culture and fine art techniques. By taking digital camcorder footage and running it through a physical animation process, we’ve created a visual language as layered and raw as the track itself.

Bespoke Visuals for the Underground Elevating the Grime aesthetic through mixed media innovation. This sample showcases a unique VFX pipeline: capturing the Y2K aesthetic on a Sony digital camcorder, followed by a destructive analogue process. By integrating hand-drawn animation and high-resolution 24mp scans, I deliver motion graphics with a physical weight that digital plugins can’t replicate. 100% Human-made.

Grime: A Mixed Media Experiment This project explores the intersection of Grime and analogue VFX. Starting with the vintage vibes of a Sony digital camcorder, the footage was color-graded before being exported into the physical world. I used hand-drawn animation to create a custom motion graphics language, re-scanning every frame at 24mp to maintain the integrity of the paper. No AI was used—just raw process and physical craft.
